We are primarily a Stargate SG-1 Role Play Forum. Whilst the affairs and characters originating from Stargate Atlantis and Stargate Universe may be mentioned and occasionally feature to play a part in a current plot line, they are not a permanent fixture of this forum.
We understand that our Rules and Regs are a tad long but they exist to ensure that we can all experience a fair system and that we can enjoy this site safely.
1. Forum Rules
2. In Character
3. Posting Rules
4. Other Important Information
1. Forum Rules
a) As stated, we are a Stargate SG-1 RP Forum and as such, we would appreciate a decent understanding of the Stargate SG-1 history and events, and to also have a decent understanding of how the United States Military function in regards to rules and regs. If you are unsure of anything you can always ask a member of staff or visit Gateworld or Stargate Wiki to find anything specific you need.
b) Impersonation is prohibited and will not be tolerated.
c) You are expected to post at least once a month and to inform us of any absence you will be undertaking so that you in return do not lose your account. You can let us know in the Leave of Absence (LOA) board. Failure to notify us of any absence may lead to the deletion of your account and your character(s)and their position(s) will be open for new members.
d) We implement a warning system. It is run by percentage of four increments; 25, 50, 75 and 100% When you reach 100%, you will receive a final warning and if you continue to ignore the list you are on warning for, we unfortunately will have to ban your account. If you have received a warning of any of the above percentage rates and have no repeated that offense for a period of one month, your warning will either be reduced or removed entirely. Any warnings given will be placed both in a thread only staff can see and in your account notes. Do not remove them.
e) If you have any questions, please look to our FAQ board. If what you are inquiring is not covered, then please do feel free to ask us. You can do so either by PM or by a open inquiry thread in the appropriate board.
f) PG-13. Please remain in compliance with Proboards Terms and Conditions about content. Whilst we know Stargate can get pretty bloody, it's not done in an unsightly manner or anything that would truly offend. This includes the Chat Box. If you're unsure if what you wish to write is over PG-13, please ask a staff member before you post it. If you post something of a non-PG-13 nature, we will be forced to delete that post and give you a warning. Ask before you post, please.
g) Please DO NOT create an account solely for the purposes of advertising any relevant or non-relevant site on our forum. You can advertise as a guest in our Advertising and Affiliation board. Neither are you allowed to PM other members with advertising for your site. We only accept advertisements for sites of a similar nature of our own, i.e. other RP forums. Any account made for the purposes of advertising and bothering other members will have that account deleted by staff without prior notice.
2. In Character
a) Anything said or done by your character is not relative to real time and not meant to be taken personally. It's in character, it has no relation to you in real life. Anything posted and done in character by other members is purely fictional.
b) Please make an account for the character in question. One account per character. Having one account with multiple characters is confusing for other members and for staff. It also makes it difficult for you to assign avatars and signatures for that character.
c) Some of the playable races involved in Stargate will be limited on this forum. Most obvious of examples of this are the Tok'ra since Egeria is no longer alive to produce more offspring. You are free to apply for a limited race but please respect our decision if we do turn it down. Such applications should have an extensive history to help us with our decision.
d) Ranks ; If you are applying for a military position whether it is for a SG-Team, Base Personnel or from other Military positions that are cleared to know about the Stargate Program, you will undoubtedly have a rank. Those with high rank status are typically those in Command or from off-site areas such as the Pentagon. Rules about the ranks within a SG-Team will be expressed in further detail in an appropriate Team Application and Availability Board, Base Personnel are typically of low rank unless you are in sciences or medical.
e) Race ; Mostly it's a basic understanding that you will be a human being. If you do wish to be an alien, which will usually consist of Goa'uld, Jaffa, Tok'ra, Ascendent etc, be prepared to defend your reasoning to wanting to be that alien race. As afore mentioned, some do have a race limitation. So, we ask for an extensive character history, personality and strength & weaknesses. These points will help us to approve your application.
f) Positions ; We have a Open / Closed Character thread. This will entail what characaters, both canon and non-canon, are available and what positions are also available. If they have been filled in, please do not ask. If your character is likely to be part of a SG team, please see the relevant thread.
g) Avatar and Signatures ;
h) Relatives ; Any relatives should be considered to the sidelines to any plot in hand at any time. If they are to have any hand in a major plot line, then it should have its own account. It should be played by a separate person to lessen RP'ing with yourself too much which isn't that productive for plot and character progression.
i) Character death can only happen under the advisement and permission of us administrators. We ask you do not kill off your character or someone else's character without their permission and our permission. If you no longer wish to keep that character, then PM Admin and we will talk with you about how that character will be written out. IF you wish for the death to play a part in a plot-line, than do ask us and we will see whether we can fit it in but please, we do not want an influx. The Plot-line you suggest has to be well thought out.
j) If you no longer wish to keep a character or wish to put them on a sideline, then please do let us know. We will help you to either create the circumstances as to why your character is retiring or transferring. This can only be done with Original Characters and select few canons. If you have a main canon and no longer wish to play them, you must let us know and we will retire your account for you. All threads you have posted with that character will be archived and the position opened for anyone else wishing to take it up.
3. Posting Rules
a) Location ; Your character cannot be in two places at once (unless there is some plot line that subverts this law of physics) at any one time in the RP. You should end your current thread before moving to the next one. This rule does not apply with radio transmissions or other various communication systems. Your character should not suddenly have knowledge about what has
happened or has been said in a different board/thread that they are not
in. Whilst you as the owner may have read and seen all, your characters
should only know what they themselves have personally seen or heard.
b) TAG ; We use a Tag Posting System. This means that once you've written your post, you should then add in bold "TAG :" and input the names of the characters that should reply to it. So, it would look something like this: "Tag ; O'Neill, Jackson". If it is purely a open thread which is open to anyone, please put "[/b]TAG ; Any[/b]" instead. Proboards now lets you tag people and in doing so gives them a Participation Alert. All you have to do is to put a @ before that person's username of their account. So, if for example, you wanted to alert Jack O'Neill to a post you've just replied to, put
Any one can start a thread provided they are not posting in-character elsewhere. When you end your thread, you should put "END 'character name',", so it should look something like this: "END Jack O'Neill". This is so we know where your character is, who is where and when you've ended it. It makes things less confusing for everyone involved.
c) We use Third Person posting format to describe actions. Like so ;
Any use of First Person (I) should be used for thoughts, letters or personal logs that have been transcribed into the role play. Past tense only please.
d) We do ask that you are at least Semi-Literate. This means that you have a decent understanding of punctuation and grammar. If it helps you, you can always write your post in a word processing program with an in-built spell-checker if your browser does not provide this service for you. Writing it in a word processing program also helps to prevent loss of potential posts should your browser fail on you.
e) Whilst it is understood that some members either prefer or are used to using a colour for speech, please do not make it outlandish. It has to be easily read. We recommend that you stick with an earthen palette (browns, dark greens etc). We also ask that you don't make your post format with tiny font sizes. Please use the default option. Other that, we're happy to let you be creative with your posting. Just so long as we can read and understand it, it's fine.
f) For internal communications or communications through devices such as radios, please use this format.
g) Flaming, Trolling, God Modding, Meta-Gaming, Power Playing and other abusive activities are strictly prohibited. Anyone found to be doing this will receive an instant 50% warning or complete ban depending on the seriousness of what has been done. It's not nice and it's not fair. If you're unsure of what these mean, please see to our FAQ or ask us.
h) We encourage members to post more than 200 words per post. This means that the person replying to your character has something to work with when replying. Short post can make for dull results very quickly so be creative!
i) Respect other members. They have a right to a friendly environment!
j) Please do NOT delete any post you make, especially if it's a RP post. Anything to do with the role playing side of the site gets placed into the archives for others to read when there is nowt for them to do in their spare time and helps to maintain a timeline of events that any member can refer back to.
4. Other Important Information
a) If a member constantly persists in blatantly disregarding the rules in place to ensure a safe and enjoyable Role Playing environment, we will be forced to ban them from our site.
b) Please do notify us if you have to spend more than two weeks away through a post in our "Leave of Absence (LOA)" board. If you have not posted for a month, your account will be in direct danger of being deleted and your character's position being re-opened for assignment.
c) Please adhere to Proboards Terms and Conditions, which can be found here
d) Please adhere to C-Box's Terms and Conditions, which can be found here
e) If you see someone breaking the rules, please just send us PM and we will look into it. If you can provide us with a link/screenshot, time and date of their offense, that would be most useful.
Thank you for reading and understanding our rules and regulations.

g) Avatar and Signatures ;
- Avatars must be no wider than 125 pixels and no higher than 250. It should be a photograph only, not a cartoon or stylised variant. Whilst you can go bigger providing you remain within the limit above, we do recommend 100x100 as it just looks more pretty and in keeping with the looks of the board style.
- Signatures must be no wider than 500 pixels and no higher than 250. It should be solely about your character. Whilst we'd appreciate it to be Stargate themed, we won't rule out anything else as long as it is appropriate.
- If you cannot resize your avatar, let us know and we will do it for you. If you are unable to create a signature of your own and would like one, let us know and we can sort something out.
- All avatars and signatures should be at a PG-13 content.
h) Relatives ; Any relatives should be considered to the sidelines to any plot in hand at any time. If they are to have any hand in a major plot line, then it should have its own account. doing with those entering since his own entrance. They had all noticed

of her own. He checked his watch though he had yet to look through
