Q) What is Meta-Gaming?
A) Meta-Gaming is where the person has their character claim to know something in a situation where they have not been told/witnessed/informed in-character. Your character may not be of a rank or department to see certain files such as personnel files or medical files, so knowing something from these and using it in a in-character thread is meta-gaming. Your character isn't all-knowing.
Q) What is God-Moding?
A) God-Moding is where you take control of another member's character without prior consent. Since we forbid God-Moding, this means you should not be speaking, acting or thinking for that character that does not belong to you. Be careful when replying to another person's post, and be careful as to not put something reacting or stating something that someone else has done but not actually SPECIFICALLY done in reality.
Q) What is Trolling?
A) Trolling is the art of cleverly aggravating others off using dialogue. It is not the same as Flaming or Spamming. The essential part to Trolling is convincing that person that you believe in what you are saying no matter how outrageous or by giving malicious instructions under the guise of help. Thus it is prohibited by this forum.
Q) What is Flaming?
A) Flaming is engaging in an online argument usually involving unfounded personal attacks by one or more parties.
Q) What is Spamming?
A) Constantly saying things in quick succession for attention seeking purposes or to disturb things. It's not a fair thing to do and we do not allow this both on the forum and chat box.
Q) Do I need to have an extensive knowledge requirement about the Stargate universe
A) No, you don't need to know everything off hand. A general understanding about the physics and general stuff about the gate and political affairs is greatly welcomed but you need not be a walking encyclopaedia. Anything specific you do need can be easily found on Gateworld.
