HISTORY
Paige is of Irish descent, but was born in America in 1980, all four grandparents having moved to America from Dublin in the early 1930s. She is the youngest of four siblings (all brothers) and so has had to live with many men all her life. She was born and grew up in Chicago, and learned to play the saxophone at the age of seven after her dad and eldest brother joined a Jazz band. Growing up with only men around (as her mother died when she was still an infant) meant that she had to learn to fight and also was never introduced to things like Ballet, or ponies. Everything was guns, engines, sport and routine, her father having been in the army until he was honourably discharged due to a shoulder injury that prevented him from continuing his service.
She attended school until the age of 16 and went to college to study Physical Education and Mechanical Engineering for two years.
For the next four years, she continued to study those subjects at Western Illinois University and finally graduated with a degree and a doctorate in 2000. She applied for the US Air Force in the same year and quickly went through training, and after a year of hard work was enlisted, worked through the ranks to eventually become a Major over the course of the next five years.
SERVICE RECORD: In that time she logged over 400 hours flight time in various different aircraft, including; V-22 Osprey, F-22A, F-15E Strike Eagle, F-15 Eagle and the T-1 Jayhawk. The Osprey was her favourite aircraft to fly. She spent a great deal of her time working on the aircraft due to her Doctorate in Mechinal Engineering.
Most of her time was spent tinkering on the planes, repairing systems and upgrading old ones.
Paige was sent on tour in Afghanistan to work on the aircraft out there. While out there she was instrumental in saving the lives of one squadron. There had been very little time to prepare the squardron’s planes before they were dispatched, and she had to work very quickly to get the systems in working order. Her commander had told her to work mainly on weapons, but dispite this order she couldn’t completely comply with it and covertly ensured that the ejector seats were in working order, which she found were not when she began. The weapons were not completed in time, but instead of being reprimanded for not obeying her commanding officer, she was awarded the Airman’s Medal for saving the lives of the squadron when they had to eject from the craft after the mission went horribly wrong. Eight lives were saved. Along with the medal came the promotion of Captain from First Lieutenant.
When she returned she was given the Air Force Overseas Short Tour Service Ribbon.
She was then transferred to Arizona where she was to work on the electrical and mechanical systems on the F-302s and also the Earth ship Prometheus.
For her work on the F-302s and Prometheus she was again promoted to Major. She has logged around 50 hours flying the 302s both in testing systems and in ariel combat training.
She was working on the Prometheus, in 2005, when Vala Mal Doran attemped to steal it and sell it on to the Lucian Alliance. She assited Doctor Novak in getting the Alkesh back in working order. Paige was interested by the presence of SG-3 and Daniel Jackson on board, and when it had to go home early, she requested a transfer to join Stargate Command. General O'Neill needed a bit of time to consider it and after a recommendation from General Hammond, it was accepted and she was assigned to SG-21 a couple of months later when a spot became open.
In 2006, when Colonel Barnes died from the Prior Virus, and Paige was subsequently healed by the transformed Gerak, a position became open on SG-6 and after reviewing personelle files, General Landry decided to move Paige to the team, under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Burke, making her second-in-command of the team.
Due to her expertise she is often called to join other teams on missions if things need fixing or working out how to operate new technologies. She has yet to accompany SG-1, but it is a secret dream of hers to join the legendary team on a mission or two.
OTHER
She is a Doctor of Engineering and as so has a Ph.D, along with the title of 'Doctor'. However in the Air Force, it is more appropriate to be addressed by her Rank rather than her title. When not off world, she is often in the gymnasium doing fitness exercises, either on her own, or training small groups of younger airmen who need the fitness in order to achieve ranks. Her degree in P.E allowing her to lead the exercises.
Being one of very few females on the base has proven hard for her and numerous attempts at a relationship with civilians has often proven fatal due to the secrecy of the programme.

ROLE PLAY SAMPLE: (This is set during season 10, the beginning of the mission which got Beckett stabbed in the back.)
Their guns were drawn, yet they were surrounded and outnumbered. Colonel Burke looked towards his team members, and with a nod from his head, they lowered their weapons and raised their hands. albeit, one, Major Beckett, was a little reluctant to do so. Not exactly how this mission was supposed to have turned out. The villagers armed with crossbows remained where they were, whilst the others stepped forward and grabbed the four members of SG-6's weapons before binding their hands behind their backs with pieces of rope.
“You shall pay for your crimes.” One of them said, looking between the Tau’ri.
Burke sighed a little bit. “What crimes would they be?”
“Blasphemy, you are all non-believers. It is the will of the Ori that all non-believers are purged from existance.” Another villager replied, stepping out from the forest. He stopped just a few feet away from Burke and looked him up and down. “You will soon see just how much power the Ori have, Colonel.”
“Look, I’m not going to tell you again. The Ori are false gods!” Burke fell to the floor heavily as one man punched him round the face for his insults, blood in his mouth from a cut.
The man loomed over Burke, looking down on him. “Say those kinds of words again, and you will die a much more painful death than what the rest of your team will suffer.” With that they were escorted away through the forest to the nearby village and taken to a hut, their binds cut and the doors locked behind them.
After testing the bars on the windows, Beckett spoke up. “Colonel, sir… what do you want us to do?” She queried, watching as her commanding officer wiped blood from his face.
He looked at her and shook his head. “I admire your enthusiasm, Major, but right now the best thing to do would be to sit and do nothing. When we don't report in, General Landry will send help.”
